Summary

What if Wendy first traveled to Neverland… with Captain Hook?

Sixteen-year-old Wendy Darling's life is not what she imagined it would be。 The doldrums of an empty house after her brothers have gone to school, the dull parties where everyone thinks she talks too much, and the fact that her parents have decided to send her away to Ireland as a governess-it all makes her wish things could be different。

Wendy's only real escape is in writing down tales of Never Land。 After nearly meeting her hero, Peter Pan, four years earlier, she still holds on to the childhood hope that his magical home truly exists。 She also holds on to his shadow。

So when an opportunity to travel to Never Land via pirate ship presents itself, Wendy makes a deal with the devil。 But Never Land isn't quite the place she imagined it would be。 Unexpected dangers and strange foes pop up at every turn, and a little pixie named Tinker Bell seems less than willing to help。

But when Captain Hook reveals some rather permanent and evil plans for Never Land, it's up to the two of them to save Peter Pan-and his world。

I think my favorite so far of the Twisted Tales series。 I really liked the changes they made between Wendy and Tink by making them find ways to work together。

Honestly did not enjoy this one as much。 Some of the stylistic choices in the writing were kind of off putting to me。 And ultimately I didn’t really like the story all that much。 I enjoyed the progression of Tink and Wendy’s relationship but was disappointed by all the other characters。 Such a let down for me because I enjoy Peter Pan。

The only part I liked about this book was the epilogue。 If the rest of the book was more like the epilogue I would’ve liked it more。 Or at least I assume so because I don’t remember a single thing that happened in this book。 I know I read it, because at multiple times I slammed my head against the cover lamenting how positively dry and boring and campy it was, as well as how misleading the first two chapters and description are, but yet I don’t remember a single plot point。 Was there a comprehen The only part I liked about this book was the epilogue。 If the rest of the book was more like the epilogue I would’ve liked it more。 Or at least I assume so because I don’t remember a single thing that happened in this book。 I know I read it, because at multiple times I slammed my head against the cover lamenting how positively dry and boring and campy it was, as well as how misleading the first two chapters and description are, but yet I don’t remember a single plot point。 Was there a comprehensive plot or did this just read like a bunch of sticky notes thrown into a pile together ? I really enjoyed this book from Wendy’s POV。 I liked the friendship and bond that was created between Tink and Wendy and enjoyed the young woman that Wendy became。 I really, really liked how it all ended。 The last scene was perfect。 My only suggestion was that it could have easily been shaven down a good 50-100 pages and it would have made the pacing more enjoyable, however I still recommend it as a whole。 4/5 stars

I like the new grown up understandings of neverland and its residents。 Wendy is grown but craves adventure。 She decides to go back to neverland, by any means necessary。 It's dark, it's mature but it's still the characters we love。 I like the new grown up understandings of neverland and its residents。 Wendy is grown but craves adventure。 She decides to go back to neverland, by any means necessary。 It's dark, it's mature but it's still the characters we love。 。。。more

I am extremely annoyed with this entire series。 This is the sixth Twisted Tale I have read, and only one was actually good。 Straight on Till Morning in particular should have been half as long as it was which would have sped up the pace and made things seem more urgent。 It’s disappointing to see some of my favorite Disney movies be changed into something boring and pointless。

Was not a great fan of Wendy in this book。 Towards the end it dragged and I started scanning。 The ending was ok。

I desperately wanted to enjoy this book, given my love of Peter Pan。 The only parts I did enjoy were the best of the book, a rising friendship between two characters who did not have much of a connection in the original story。 But should have。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Honestly, this was pretty enjoyable。 I've read other books by Liz Braswell and this book ended with more optimism than some of her other reimaginings。 When I first started this book I was disappointed because I thought Wendy would be introduced to Peter Pan through Hook's eyes and see him as a child who was horrible more than a hero but that wasn't the case。 After I got over my self-inflicted disapproval I really enjoyed the writing and where the story went。 I loved how most of the book was just Honestly, this was pretty enjoyable。 I've read other books by Liz Braswell and this book ended with more optimism than some of her other reimaginings。 When I first started this book I was disappointed because I thought Wendy would be introduced to Peter Pan through Hook's eyes and see him as a child who was horrible more than a hero but that wasn't the case。 After I got over my self-inflicted disapproval I really enjoyed the writing and where the story went。 I loved how most of the book was just Wendy and Tinker Bell having adventures while they tried to understand each other。 It was extremely fun for me to see their friendship blossom。 I liked how even when Wendy met Peter she almost instantly saw how immature he was, I thought that was nice。 It showed how much she had grown from the start of the book。 I liked Thorn, he was cool。I really liked how Mr。 Smee was just part of Hook's imagination, I thought that was a really interesting twist。 When I thought about it, it made sense because we had never seen Mr。 Smee, just Hook yelling for him。 It was all very subtle and I really appreciated how well it was done。 I liked the ending and I didn't feel like there were any loose ends。 It was quite nice。 I really liked how it ended happily, which is my favorite kind of ending。 。。。more

This book was VERY long and in my opinion a bit dragged out。 I liked the friendship between Wendy and Tinker Bell it was very different than the movie。 I liked the plot and the mention of other characters, but like I said it was too long。

I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars。 I am sitting more on a 3。5 stars but I'll round up to 4。 This is a Peter Pan retelling。 Instead of sailing away to NeverLand, Wendy Darling trades Peter Pans shadow to Captain Hook for passage to NeverLand。 While, this is an interesting beginning concept, this story had so much potential。 I was really looking for more drama and excitement within it。 Liz Braswell, could have done so much with this, but it seems as if she was hesitant。 This book is targeted mor I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars。 I am sitting more on a 3。5 stars but I'll round up to 4。 This is a Peter Pan retelling。 Instead of sailing away to NeverLand, Wendy Darling trades Peter Pans shadow to Captain Hook for passage to NeverLand。 While, this is an interesting beginning concept, this story had so much potential。 I was really looking for more drama and excitement within it。 Liz Braswell, could have done so much with this, but it seems as if she was hesitant。 This book is targeted more towards young adult, therefore has its limitations。 If this was an adult novel, it could have gone much further in a sense of drama and intensity。 Nonetheless, it was a good read。 A little drawn out, but good。 。。。more
